The First Day of Grade 2

It was a big success. She can finally touch the floor while sitting in her desk, and isn't as scared of Mr. Mackenzie as the butterflies in her stomach anticipated ;)

Second Concert in as Many Days

After her debut at the annual Highland Village Day concert this past Saturday, Brenley overcame her stage fright. As we were leaving the hill, she was skipping along and asked, "Where are we dancing again on Tuesday?"

Well, it's Tuesday. And we danced at the Feis an Eilein concert series tonight.

Thoughtfulness of an old soul...

Before 10am this morning, barely out of bed and awake, Brenley came bounding toward me wanting to use her EasyBake Oven. She wanted to make heart cookies.

As she was preparing the mix and such, it came time to roll the minuscule amount of dough into four balls to make the cookies. She looked up at me and said,

"Huh?! It only makes four cookies? That's not enough for everyone who will be at the church!"

I had to smile. She was making cookies for the reception after her Papa's funeral.

Big heart. Small heart cookies.

Just the boost she needed...

Brenley was having a hard time learning how to drive a two-wheel bike. She tried and tried, but frustration just got the best of her. So, when the topic of Mother's Day came up, I told her that her learning to drive the bike by Sunday evening would be the best Mother's Day present ever. 

Guess who mastered it before 11am this morning?

Saying 'No'

After asking a bunch of questions of Daddy and getting a repeated 'no' every time for an answer, she retorts,

"You're better at saying 'No' than you think you are!"
