2007 r e c a p

Well... 2007 is coming to an end. It's hard to believe... but... there it goes.

It was a busy year for Brenley... it's hard to comment about all the milestones and accomplishments...

  • lots of new words and expressions!
  • a new piano for our house, which she loves to play
  • a spring full of exploring the outdoors
  • a summer full of beaching it and "simming"
  • her first trip to "IEI"
  • turning 2 years old!
  • real trick-or-treating
  • new teeth, of course
  • First hair cut ever!
  • and so much more!!!!!!!!

It's very hard to believe that another year for Miss Brenley has passed.

"Merry Tismas"

The BIG day has finally arrived.

We spent the day lazing around and getting all tired out so Brenley would have a good nap this afternoon before church at 5pm.

The crowd at church is so big we had to be there at 4ish... which we were and we just got a seat! Thankfully, Brenley was very well behaved for the extended church visit. I don't think she listened to a word... not even to the choir, because she was too busy looking for baby boys and drawing pictures on everything she could find in my purse!

We came home and had some pizza for supper. Then, it was time to open the presents under the tree (a tradition carried over from Kyle's family). We open our gifts on Christmas eve.... but we only got her 2 toy things (on purpose)... so she wasn't REALLY excited. She was more excited over the "titty titty" clothes. The Poko and Doodlebops dvds were pretty popular. And out of the blue she looked at us and said, "OH BOY! I a-cited!"

Nonetheless, she's in bed in her new pjs.... on her new Montreal Canadiens pillowcase... with her tis-mas tree on so Santa can find her. But, she doesn't think Santa's going to bring her a blue trut... or a hockey game stit.... so she's gone to sleep to wait and see!

Tomorrow should be a different scenario, all together!

Merry Christmas! Hope Santa finds you, too! ;)

Brenley's letter to Santa this year

December 5, 2007

Dear Santa Claus,

Hello! Ciamar a tha thu? I hope you’re not too busy today! It’s Brenley Gillis from Long Island Road!

This year I am 2 years old (shows 2 fingers). I am trying very hard to be a good girl because my Mamaidh and Dadaidh told me that Santa Claus watches for good girls! It’s not always easy to be good, though, when you’re two years old!

This year for Christmas I would like you to bring me a “trut” (truck)… a blue trut! And maybe some other toys, too… like a hockey stick and a “hockey game shirt” because I LOVE hockey! I watch the Screaming Eagles play hockey and they even gave me a high five!

Thank you Santa for the gifts you gave me last year! I really loved them! Oh! And I saw you waving to me in Sydney in front of Krazy Krazy yesterday! I was so excited to see you I couldn’t even move! But “thank you Santa for vaving”!

I hope you have a safe journey in your sleigh on Christmas Eve. I will leave a snack for you on Christmas Eve… a “Happy to you cake”. (Mamaidh’s not sure why it has to be a Happy Birthday cake this year when Oreo cookies worked every other year….)

So, Santa I will try to be a good girl until Christmas and I hope to get up enough nerve to get my picture taken on your lap!

Hello to Mrs. Claus and the Elves and the Reindeer, too!

"Happy to you, Santa!”

Love,

Brenley Gillis

It's been over a month so let's see...

In the past month or so Brenley's conversations have erupted!
Some of things she's said or expressed:

  • Daddy just wait a minute!
  • Ma is full of shit (quickly corrected... of course she was prompted and taught to say such a thing!)
  • Dadaidh said No Mommy.... followed by the biggest pout and TEARS!
  • The tows are up here... (tows = cows)
  • Loot Mamaidh it's a tismas Tree!!!!!!
  • Shoot the Puck Geagles!
  • Me no like the Loalie.

There's plenty of more too, but those would be the highlights!

We took her on our "shopping trip" to Halifax in November and she fell in love with 2 things...

  1. the escalators (or big slides as she called them... up and down about 20 times!)
  2. Santa!

Yep.. the jolly old fella is mesmerizing her completely. Today she saw him waving to cars in Sydney and she went completely silent! She was totally taken a back by him!

I guess that's it for now. We'll post her Santa letter when we get around to writing it!
