Spinning wheels...

Brenley eyed up the plate with some crumbs left on it from Santa's plate...

"We've got his DNA," she remarked sheepishly...

Sports & Undergarments...

Kyle & Brenley going through her dresser sorting clothes:

Kyle: "What the hell is that?!?!"
Brenley: "A tank top with a bra built in it."
K: "A BRA?!?!?"
B: "Well, it's more of a sports bra..."
K: "What's the sport? Searching for boobs?!"

What it's like having your daughter in your class (or in Brenley's case, having your mother as your teacher)

What it's like having your daughter in your class:

1) Friday: after being pissed at me & not talking to me all morning, she comes up to me at lunch & says, "I'm speaking to you right now as my teacher, not my mother..."

2) Today in math class: me: "Pretend this hundreds chart was continued beyond that bottom row, what do you think the next number in the pattern would be?"
Brenley... hand waving like a mad woman, "Um, well, first of all, it wouldn't just be a hundred chart anymore, it would be a 'MORE than hundred chart' AND the next number in the pattern would be 102"
me: "For the record, I liked it better when you were in grade primary & didn't speak in class from September til after March Break... but yes, you're right"

3)Today on the drive home: "Um, hello?!?! You really pissed me off in class today. I had my hand up for the right answer every time & you didn't ask me once... HMPH"

In her own words...

As we're leaving the rink, Brenley lets about four man farts go....

Laughing to kill herself, she comments...

"I'm not what you would call fancy, I guess!"

LOL

Namesakes!

My Brenley, her namesake, Brenley & Lisa MacIsaac from Madison Violet!!! Awesome concert at Granville Green, girls!!!! We loved it!

Crafting... of sorts....

Yesterday I taught Brenley how to cross stitch. She's totally addicted to it & is working on a Super Mario piece after the 2 she designed and created yesterday. BUT... Madden keeps calling it "CROTCH STITCHING". I'm nearly peeing my pants here... LMAO

Kyle never laughed so hard...

We were at the local Service Canada office applying for Social Insurance Numbers for the kids. The whole fam dam all there together.

As we walk in and sit in the waiting area, we're noticing all of the signs saying no cellphone use in the area.

As serious as anything, Brenley looks at me with the most forlorn face, hold up a piece of paper & a crayon and says,

"Here you go, Mom. This should hold you over since you can't use your phone. It should make it easier for you."

Little arse...

Awards!

At the year end dance recital this year, Brenley was awarded a new award: The Celtic Serenade Tradition Bearer Award for keeping up Celtic culture, not just through dance! Pretty pumped!

A week later, she was given an award in Phys Ed for being the "Skipper of the Year". (Not for skipping the most classes, though)

And, finally, not a physical award, but she was some proud to get her first (paying) gig at the KitchenFest festival in June! She was asked to dance & just drove'er!

Way to go, Brenley!

The Entrepreneurs

A hot day at the end of June means a good opportunity for a Dirt Road Lemonade Stand. This one was quite the hit & took in over $60 in profits!!!!

In the dating game...

While watching the hockey game tonight, Brenley pipes up and says,

I think he'd be a good man for Grammie!

OMG.

A little activist... looking for change

Hi, my name is Brenley Gillis. I am 8 years old and from Nova Scotia, Canada (where Sidney Crosby is from.) My mom, Dawn, is helping me write this letter to you.

Since January our family has bought 2 different Bleacher Creatures as gifts for my little brother & cousin. We've spent lots of time looking at your website & searching for the right guy to buy in stores around here. While I liked to buy these as gifts, I was really disappointed that there are NO female hockey players represented in your items. None. As a young Canadian girl, following Team Canada's female team is part of my life. Hayley Wickheiser's name & number are common speak among me, my friends and classmates.

Hockey is getting really popular with girls my age, girls younger and girls older. Also, guess what? Girls like to play with dolls, collect them, etc. I think you're really missing the mark by not having female hockey players in your collection.

How about some recognition for our great female hockey players? I guarantee I would buy one, and I'm pretty sure I can think of a number of girls who would love to have a female hockey player Bleacher Creature in their collections.

Please consider this for the future.
I hope you take the time to read this letter.

Sincerely,
Brenley Gillis
