So, in English class Brenley was given a picture not very much like this one, but along the same idea. And she had to write a short story about the picture starting with a given first sentence. She wrote the story based on Nan & Gramp. I thought she did a pretty good job; it's kind of humourous ;) Her teacher sent me a message, too saying how funny it was. Thought I'd share it here:
Two weeks past and it happened again. My Gramp is as deaf as a haddock, so I know he didn't hear what was under the rug.
It was just like any weekend. My mother told me to get out of my room and actually be social. All of my friends were busy doing their English homework, so I decided to go visit my Nan and Gramp. They're always good for a laugh.
Nan and Gramp live in a house that is at least 75 years old. The house is always HOT, even in the summer. I'm not really sure why, but I think it has something to do with Gramp putting coal in the furnace every 15 minutes. Their house is right beside my Grandparents's place. Nan and Gramp are getting up there, so my Grandparents go and check on them every morning. And every afternoon. And every evening to make sure they're eating or the house isn't on fire.
I wasn't even two steps in the house and I was already sweating. I saw that they just recently stocked up on some cat food too. As i got further into their house i smelled freshly baked bread, I wasn't going to ask for a piece because she probably forgot some ingredients. As i kept walking I saw Gramp barely holding a chair above his head with his seven fingers. I yelled out, "Gramp what are you doing?"
"WHAT?" he hollered back
"Why are you holding up a chair?"
"Can you see something under the rug, or am I seeing things from World War II again'
"There is definitely something under the rug, but I am not quite sure what it might be."
As we were all trying to determine the lump under the rug, I heard a faint meow.
"Gramp! Wait it's Peekaboo"
As he lowered the chair he said, "Oh god, I thought that thing was dead long ago!"
Nan came out of the bathroom with half her makeup done and said, "I thought I told you where Peekaboo's new hiding spot was… or maybe it was Greg who I told that to."
I just kind of giggled to myself. Somethings will never change there. I knew I would have a good laugh.
